Wow, six months in the books for dev-eryday. It’s been a great experience so far. It’s truly amazing how far you can go if you focus on learning a little bit each day. Dev-eryday is a commitment to becoming the best software developer, and person, that I can be. The goal is to go to bed at night a little bit better than I was when I woke up in the morning. That’s it. I’ve accomplished this each day in 2017 and I plan to keep going indefinitely.

There’s a great Charlie Munger quote I read recently in Poor Charlie’s Almanac that is applicable: Spend each day trying to be a little wiser than you were when you woke up. Discharge your duties faithfully and well. Step by step you get ahead, but not necessarily in fast spurts. But you build discipline by preparing for fast spurts…. Slug it out one inch at a time, day by day. At the end of the day–if you live long enough–most people get what they deserve.

Munger’s thoughts here are directly in line with my views on learning.

This week I attacked Fullstack React. I’m almost halfway through the text and it’s been well worth the time invested into it. The example projects have been well thought out so far, and the accompanying explanations are thorough. It’s definitely helping the development of IdeaListz move along smoothly. With a little bit of luck, and lots of time poured into it, I should finish the text in the week ahead.

The week ahead will be full of developing in React. I’m also going to continue adding to my knowledge of C#. I’ve been watching some courses about Domain Driven Design and some of the ideas are starting to seep into my code.
